GIVING BACK EVENTS
One of SHPFA's objectives is promoting a sense of community through social activities. We have four activities that fulfill this objective.
ALICIA ROSE BANDANA DAY SALE
Chairperson
Sharon Trinetto
Alicia Rose Bandana Day was created by Alicia's classmate to commemorate her spirit and determination to finish school while
undergoing chemotherapy and to raise awareness about her struggles
battling cancer. To know more about her story,

Our Annual Bandana Day and Sale takes place in March and it
supports the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation, which is a Voorhees based
organization dedicated to bringing hope, comfort, entertainment to in-patient
children faced with cancer and other life threatening illnesses.
MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY
This activity was new last year and was held in January. We used one
day off to make beautiful "no sew" blankets for the Voorhees Pediatric Facility.
Knowing where your help goes to matters. Here's a link to their website:

The children loved their soft Signal Hill blankets. This initiative
received such a positive turnout that we ran out of blanket material. We will
double the effort this year and perhaps we can choose two organizations to give to.
THANKSGIVING ADOPT-A-FAMILY
Every Thanksgiving, we ask each class to provide a traditional holiday
dinner with all the trimmings to a Camden County area family. This community
service activity is being coordinated with the Department of Youth and Family
Services (DYFS) who will pick up the meals and deliver them to families that
otherwise may not have a Thanksgiving dinner. SHPFA Representatives are
responsible for collecting the items on the menu provided by DYFS.
THE GIVING TREE
Our Annual Giving Tree brings hope and joy to children in need in our
area during the holiday season while teaching our children the spirit of giving, community service and gratitude. A permission slip will be sent home. The front
office will call each classroom to pick a tag from the tree on the date scheduled.
Only the children with signed slips will be allowed to participate. Children will be
assisted in choosing a gift tag from the tree. The children must return the
unwrapped gift to the front foyer Giving Tree area by the scheduled date.
