A Book Fair promotes reading through a school wide celebration that brings everyone together. SHPFA partners with Scholastic to host a Scholastic Book Fair every year in February. Scholastic provides tools to promote our Fair and supports us every step of the way. Scholastic brings books directly to our school. The Book Fair gives our kids access to new books creating excitement for reading. There is always a preview night the week before the Book Fair. Those who attend get to preview the books, purchase, participate in games and a raffle for a prize and enjoy icecream.
Scholastic dollars are used to purchase books from the fair for our school library. They are also used for rewards prizes that Mrs. Holliday, our school librarian awards students who exhibit outstanding behavior in the library throughout the week. Signal Hill teachers and staff are given $25 in scholastic dollars from SHPFA to buy books to use with students.
Book Fair Chair will work closely with our school librarian, Mrs Holliday and Scholastic Representative, Dana Cummings. Volunteers are always needed especially during setup and breakdown of preview night, and setup and breakdown of Book Fair. Please consider extending a hand by signing up at Back to School night or by emailing our Book Fair Chair.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) DAY
Lori Kaczorowski
Stepping into the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math opens every student's mind into cool things they can do in these fields. It's an exciting day of experimenting in different scientific worlds, getting their hands dirty and giving their minds a workout with experts from our community. This program gives students the interest to explore and consider a future career in these fields. It encourages innovation and creativity. We need volunteers from many different STEM backgrounds who are interested in sharing and teaching their expertise to our students. Other ways to volunteer in this event are also available. Volunteer signup sheets are available on Back to School night or email our STEM day chair to volunteer.
